Every single dog that comes into our rescue has a journey. Some journeys have a few bumps and some have some twisting turning roads, but this boy had quite a journey.
After being attacked at a local dog park, Ranger lost his front leg. With any luck, we hoped he would remember little about the attack. His weeks in foster care healed his surgical sites and heart, but they also revealed his very real fear to medium/large dogs. Our hearts saddened as we realized that Ranger would require a very specialized placement… we wanted him to succeed and that required not only the right human adopter/home, but also the right dog to share a home with and we are OVERJOYED that Ranger has found that
We want to thank some very special people that helped Ranger through his attack and throughout his rescue journey; to those that witnessed and helped with the attack at the dog park (especially the person which helped with Ranger medically), to the previous owner who we are sure has horrific memories of the event, to VCA Salem’s emergency clinic and staff members (who went WAY beyond protocols to help), to a special foster mum who said YES and helped Ranger SO much, to his new family (both human and furry) and lastly the volunteers of SWB – a village of GSD lovers that work hard to help each of these special dogs #RESCUEROCKS#FOSTERFAMILIESRAWESOME#VOLUNTEERINGSAVESLIVES
Ranger is RRRR-READY for his journey to finding his fur-ever family <3
Ranger is about 4-5 months old, housebroken, crate trained, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. He loves to play with this furry foster brother and to go on puppy adventures. Although Ranger is now a tri-pawd pup, he takes it all in stride and just navigates on 3 legs instead of 4. We expect Ranger to live a full, happy and healthy life; just as he would have, just with 3 legs! His sutures were removed recently and he is healed and ready for his next adventure – A furever home <3
Ranger has been doing great and has been learning to navigate the world with his newly found status and doing PAWSOME!! HUGE BARK-OUT to the ER doctors and staff at VCA Salem Animal Hospital for getting Ranger the medical help he needed and finding him rescue Though Ranger is now a tri-pawd pup, this isn’t slowing him down one bit! Medically speaking, he is ready for adventure and this will not hamper his life in the future!!
Ranger is a male GSD puppy who is approximately 4-5 months old. He is up to date on vaccines (with a few more of his puppy series to go), microchipped and is well on his way to being housetrained Ranger has not yet been neutered due to his age and his recent surgery (he is scheduled to have his surgical sutures removed and get medically cleared next week!). Ranger’s foster family has been teaching him all sorts of new ways to assist him on the next part of his furever journey. He has been exposed to a car ramp, large farm animals, furry foster animals and lots of love – HUGE thank you to SWB Volunteer Norma M

Welcoming Ranger to rescue
Today, we were contacted by our friends at VCA in Salem, Oregon for rescue help. This lil pup was a victim of an attack at a dog park and unfortunately, lost a limb as a result The puppy was signed over to the clinic who performed surgery right away – HUGE bark out to the ER staff and doctors at VCA for taking such great care of this lil one, working hard to remove financial barriers and getting this pup treated and into rescue – Y’all ROCK! This 15-week-old male GSD pup is all love and kisses and will be spending the next few weeks in a medical foster as he learns to navigate being a tripawed pup. He is not yet ready for adoption, but stay tuned for his recovery updates
Special thank you to volunteers Michelle, Norma and Sue
