FRITZ HAS FOUND his FOREVER home with his foster family!! Congratulations to Fritz and family!!
Some dreams are just meant to be… You may recall that Fritz’s foster family had previously expressed interest in adopting Fritz. As with many GSDs, Fritz needed some training to bring out the best in his behavior as he was a big kid with little manners, though so so sweet! Training has begun and true to his breed, Fritz has become an integral part of their human and animal pack; and so, without further delay, Fritz has found his forever home. Congratulations!!!

On 04/11/2017, Fritz was found on the streets as a stray in Modesto California and taken to Stanislaus Animal Shelter. He was underweight with fly strikes on his ears, virtually no fur on his tail and completely infested in parasites. There he stayed at the shelter until his time was up and he was slotted for possible euthanize for space. This is where Shepherds Without Borders rescue entered his journey and on 04/28/2017 he was transferred to our rescue partner vet’s office for treatment of his parasites, skin and to be neutered. Prepped for surgery, Fritz was found to have a severe UTI that had gone untreated for a very long time. Surgery was halted and Fritz spent approximately 3 weeks in the hospital gaining strength. After being cleared of the infection with no residual sequelae. Fritz was neutered and made ready for transport.
Fritz arrived to the PNW mid-May on Rescue Express. He was full of greeting kisses and doubled back to give the bus driver kisses before bounding out to the crowd with more kisses and tail wagging in big low swishes, just a happy boy. Fritz went straight into a foster home continuing his medical recovery and is ready to find his fur-ever home.
Fritz is approximately 2 years old. He is UTD on shots, heart worm negative, microchipped and neutered. Though Fritz only weighs about 80 pounds currently, we expect him to fill out to approximately 90+ pounds. He knows several commands including sit and shake. He has exhibited a low activity/drive level previously. Fritz has exhibited the ability to get a long with other dogs, but needs some help with obedience and training as most young GSDs do.
He is very loving and readily gives kisses and loves to sit on your lap, if you will let him; he thinks he is still a 10 pound pup! Fritz needs that loving leader to share his heart with! Are you ready for a big ole lover bunny in your life? Fritz just may be your next furry family member!

Fritz has finally arrived! Fritz hitched a ride on the Rescue Express and arrived to Oregon early Mother’s Day morning! Although still frightfully thin, Fritz is such a handsome guy. He has completed his travel to his foster angel’s home in Washington and is doing well! We are so thankful that Fritz is looking so great and has made a full recovery from his recent UTI. He was full of greeting kisses as he doubled back to give the bus driver kisses before bounding out to the crowd with more kisses and tail wagging in big low swishes, just a happy boy.
Update as of Thursday, 05/11/2017:
Fritz has had quite the journey in the last few weeks, but we are pleased to announce he is doing pawsome and has been released from the hospital and has undergone his neuter procedure! He will be coming to the Pacific Northwest early Sunday morning on transport (thank you Rescue Express transport – please visit their website for more information on this fantastic transport based locally out of Eugene) where he is lucky enough to joint Annora Grace (and a few other furry family members) and her parents as a new foster family! Update as of Friday, 05/05/2017:
Good afternoon friends, we are sad to announce that Fritz’s new urinalysis shows he still has infected urine. We were hoping for better news. However, his white count is down, so he is showing some improvement. Still not completely out of the woods yet, Fritz is improving, so we are holding our breath anxiously as we await Monday’s lab tests. He will continue on antibiotics and remain in the hospital until his urine is clear. He is drinking and eating and his energy level has begun to pick up. We are hoping to have him improved enough for surgery and possible transport next weekend. Please keep Mr. Fritz in your thoughts for continued healing. We thank you for your support. Update:
We have recently learned our newest addition to Shepherds Without Borders rescue, Mr. Fritz, is very sick. He is in good hands at Venetian Animal Hospital and is receiving good care.

Fritz is a male GSD approximately 2 years of age. Fritz was picked up in Northern California as a stray and taken to a local shelter. Currently, Fritz is at our partnering animal clinic in California for his neuter and some needed TLC. When Fritz arrives to the PNW, he will be UTD on shots, neutered, microchipped and heart worm negative.
Fritz has exhibited the ability to get along well with other dogs and has exhibited a low drive, which means he “may” get a long with a smaller dog or kitty. While he has a regal stance and stride, he is friendly goofy boy who never misses a chance to show you he likes you with a big GSD slobbery kiss. Fritz is a full-sized boy that is a bit underweight at 75-80 pounds.
