CONGRATULATIONS TO SONIA AND HER NEW FAMILY <3 ANOTHER HAPPY TAILS STORY <3
Sonia came to rescue from Stanislaus Animal Shelter in California. She came in as a stray and spent several months in the shelter waiting for a miracle, enter in RESCUE – YES, it is true… black dogs are most often overlooked, but WOWZA – WHAT A BLACK BEAUTY this SWEET GIRL IS!
Sonia is an approximate 3-year-old spayed, all-black, female GSD. She is heartworm negative (on prevention), microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines. When Sonia first came to rescue she had a few areas of hair loss (probably from previous fleas/chewing), which are filling in beautifully and she is starting to get that black coat sheen and surprise! She has a dab of white on her chest and some color in-between her toes (not uncommon for “all-black” GSDs). She has been wormed and is also on flea prevention.
While in the shelter, Sonia was used as a greeter dog and she played in doggy play groups. She loves treats and to RUN and play. A micro-pop of fun (about 50 pounds) she is a social girl with the most GORGEOUS eyes you’ve ever seen! Sonia has a mild to moderate energy level. She has also been in doggy playgroups with a trainer and has appropriate manners (with boundaries set).
Sonia is possibly a good candidate for “apartment” life with a few good walks a day. She is “stick like glue” to your side girl and may be a good candidate for social/public outings. She is crate-trained, and walks on a leash relatively well, though she would benefit from further training. She is housebroken and takes treats gingerly. We do not know if Sonia has met a cat, small dogs or other farm animals.
