Adele is adopted <3 We sincerely want to thank Miss Adele’s foster home for welcoming her into their home at such a crucial time in her healing. Adele certainly wasted no time in working herself into their hearts and she is officially a member of their family <3 CONGRATULATIONS to Adele and her family!
Adele is a sweet sweet girl who we think is approximately 2-4 years old. Adele is a “coated” shepherd, though her coat is in a little rough shape, but filling in nicely. She appears to have had many litters of puppies in her life and a litter somewhat recently. She is still a bit thin, but eating and drinking well. She takes treats gently and walks nicely on a leash (though she is learning to be a tripawd). She LOVES people and meets no stranger and, despite being hit by a car, holds no fear of cars or riding in a car <3 She watches children as though she has known a few in her past and we think she would do great with children over 5 (toddlers may knock her over by accident). This girl is AMAZING!!!

Adele is currently in a foster home as she continues her rescue journey. She has continued to show no interest in cats and is exhibiting the ability to get along with other large dogs (she has a GSD foster sister). She is off all pain medication and is doing very well adjusting. Adele is vaccinated, housebroken and heartworm negative. She has not yet been spayed as we wait for her to be a bit more medically stable.
As Adele is still recovering from her surgery, we have not introduced her yet to other dogs or cats. She has heard and seen other dogs on leash and has not shown any reaction. We believe her to be intact, but she has not yet been spayed as she just had major surgery. SWB will continue to provide medical support for Adele until this has all been done.

Adele came to Shepherds Without Borders rescue by way of an emergency plea from Marion County Animal Shelter in Salem, Oregon. Adele had been found and brought to the shelter after being hit by a car on 10/4. She waited 3 long days on stray hold, but no owner called or came looking for her. We named her Adele.
We rushed to meet her and what a beautiful sweetheart!! Adele was rushed to VCA Salem Vet. An x-ray was done and we were in shock of the damage that had been done. Her shoulder and both bones in her leg (ulna and radius) completely snapped in half. The pain this girl had to be in …. still wagging her tail and leaning her head into our hands…
She was rushed to Tanasbourne Emergency Vet in Beaverton, Oregon where surgeons are on staff. After reviewing the x-rays again, doctors confirmed the recommendation to amputate. At 1:49 am this morning, Adele pulled through surgery like a champ. Doctors expect her to make a full recovery and feel she will be in a lot less pain now and will live a normal life, just with 3 legs!
While SWB was not planning on back to back medical rescues, Adele found us; without funds to treat at the shelter, she would have been euthanized. Welcome to a new life Adele ❤️.
