*ADOPTED* Miss Theia

Miss Theia has found her happily-ever-after <3 Photo coming soon!

Theia is approximately 7-9 months old. Her coat is coming in nicely, but it still has not fully grown back. Theia is housebroken, crate trained, microchipped and up to date on shots. She has not yet been spayed. She has learned much about household manners and has learned to sit for her food! Theia has exhibited the ability to live with other large dogs, but we do not know about small dogs or cats. She is playful and loving and enjoys a good snuggle. She is still being supported with medicated anti-itch spray as needed. Theia would be best served by a structured loving home with a family who understands GSDs and will continue her puppy training and be attentive to the needs of a growing puppy!

Miss Theia’s future is SO BRIGHT, she’s gotta wear shades!! She has come such a LONG way since day #1 and after just a few months with good food, excellent vet care (Thank you Dr. Haus and Foothill Farms Vet) and an awesome foster family, we are both proud and excited to announce she is READY to find her forever home!

UPDATE 06/23/2019 – The changes we’ve seen in Theia are nothing short of a miracle. Like a caterpillar shedding its cocoon and emerging a beautiful butterfly, this girl is truly emerging!! Theia is a “coated” girl (aka long hair). Her coat, mostly absent from the malnutrition and mange, is slowly growing back – she is nothing less than stunning <3 Her health and stamina continues to improve and we are learning more about Theia every day. Theia is nearing a time that she will be put up for adoption, but is not quite there yet. Stay tuned for more information and updates on Miss Theia.

Update 05/30/2019 – Miss Theia is beginning to show some spunkiness and energy!! She is very excited about eating and playing! These pictures and videos give you a hint of how beautiful she was at one time and, with continued improvement, she will be again! Theia will be going to the vet next week for her first recheck. She is still a bit itchy and she sometimes wears PJs to help protect her skin from her scratching. She still is getting lots of love and attention from her foster family <3 THANK YOU to the village of supporters that have helped Theia!!

Update 05/08/2019 – Miss Theia is eating well and her attitude has started to become a bit more spunky. THANK YOU Dr. Haas and staff at Foothill Farms Veterinary Hospital for taking GREAT care of her!!

Her blood work, while abnormal, is not out of line with her current state; she is malnourished, underweight, anemic and her white cell count is showing infection. Her thyroid function is normal. Her heartworm test was negative. We can celebrate those things!!

Good morning 😃 sunshine

Unfortunately, Theia has many opportunistic things going on; she not only has a fungal infection of the skin and ears (yeast) with the demodectic mange, but also a pretty good case of intestinal worms and tested positive for Giardia. She is being medicated and treated for each of those things. Her long tufts had to be clipped to allow the medications to soak into those areas. Her skin is still torn open and seeping in some areas. She is weak at times and does not seem to be able to keep her body temperature regulated on her own. She seeks affection from her foster “mum and dad” and from her foster brother Denver (we think he is pretty handsome too).

Good morning handsome 🐾

She seems at least partially housebroken (no accidents in the house) and loves treats. HUGE thank you to her wonderful loving foster family ❤️

Update 05/06/19 – Theia arrived to her spectacular foster home last night (Thank you Cara) and is in GREAT loving hands (Thank you fosters Leslie & Barbara)! We also want to thank our followers and friends for the outpouring of good wishes and support – she needs them. Theia has a vet appointment this afternoon (Thank you Foothill Farms for taking AWESOME care of many of our rescues). We hope to share more good news about Theia and her road to recovery soon!

Miss Theia is approximately 6-8 months old and is a “coated” shepherd, though, most of her fur is gone currently. Found on the streets and taken to a high-intake shelter, Theia’s sweet loving nature called to Shepherds Without Borders rescue to help. Theia has had a positive skin scrape for Demodex mange; a very treatable condition, though painful. She is malnourished and only weighs about 40 pounds with open sores on her skin. We don’t know how Theia got to be in the horrible state she is in, but we have faith that with proper vetting, food and love she will flourish and be ready to go to her furever family. We are rooting for you girl <3 #teamtheia

Theia is not currently ready for adoption, but in the meantime, we hope you follow her story of recovery with us – we cannot wait for the happy ending <3

We appreciate any donation to help with Theia’s care:
